Located over a headland on the outskirts of the famous golden-beach resort town of Albufeira of the Algarve, the Auramar Beach Club boasts fine panoramic views and access to quality beaches, eating and nightlife. Albufeira itself is the tourist centre of the Algarve and has good road connections with Faro Airport.
Well rated as being ‘good value for money’, Auramar is best for couples, though also caters well to families with its excellent on-site facilities. The low rise complex offers fabulous sea views from its balconies and features tastefully decorated timeshare units which come with satellite TV and kitchenette with fridge.
The main outdoor swimming pool is huge and boasts an equally sizeable area for sunning and nearby gardens, and there’s also an indoor pool for those rare cool winter evenings. There is also a children’s swimming section, tennis and a games room. You can dine here at the snack bar, café or restaurant and there are many restaurants, supermarkets and shops nearby.
There is direct beach access from Auramar Beach Club, from where guests can swim or enjoy all sorts of water sports activities, including jet-skiing and parasailing. Alternatively, if it’s too hot, there are dozens of sun-loungers right at the complex near the pool.
Albufeira is a fantastic holiday destination, having everything all types of holidaymaker require. This is one of the sunniest spots in all of Europe, including in the wintertime. There are striking golden beaches in either direction, with Fisherman's Beach (Praia dos Pescadores) and Praia do Peneco by the old town rated as the best—the latter of which you get to from town via a spectacular tunnel in the cliff.
The town itself is of interest, offering a large amount of shops and restaurants, especially along The Strip (Avenida Sá Carneira) in the newer town and Avenida da Liberdade in the old town, with its souvenirs and local pottery. The ancient Castelo de Almoáda is a top landmark, as is the Infante Don Henrique House for its ceramics.
You can walk to town, plus there is a courtesy shuttle three times a day. If you have a car, there are quieter beaches and villages to take in, such as Sao Rafeal or the amazing old town of Silves. Faro is the main town in the region, off to the east of Auramar Beach Club. It is replete with pumping nightlife and an international airport.
Faro International Airport is a major facility and is about 20 minutes from Auramar by car. Shuttles and buses also run to the town in 30 minutes.
