We acquired this Property, as New, in June, 1988. It is excellently located on a hillside overlooking the River Dee and its most attractive valley, this lovely development being just 1 mile from the delightful little Deeside Historic Royal town of Ballater where there are shops, hotels, river walks - and also a delightfully challenging 18-hole Golf Course.

We have used this spacious and very well equipped and maintained two-storey residential unit many, many times over the last  29 years - holidaying with children, families, friends, elder family members (the eldest and almost most enthusiastic  - so far - was a grandma in her '80s)

The Hilton Craigendarroch  4*+ Hotel  and Lodges are set on a magnificent hillside location and are quite close to Balmoral Castle (which is still used by members of the British Royal Family at varying times each year and incorporates also the well-known Lochnagar Distillery, that Prince Charles wrote stories about when his children were young). 

Beyond Glencoe are good winter skiing facilities - at nearby Glencoe, (also home of the very well-known Highland Games held in late summer each year). There are also good facilities at the Lecht ski centre, circa 30 miles away. (Over the last  29 years of our Ownership we know that there has been ski-able snow at one or other, or both, sites on about 18-20 years (lodges are equipped for this with Drying and Storage facilities close to each Lodge's main entrance). 
 
The unit - with its own parking - enjoys from its well equipped Balcony truly magnificent 180 degree views - across the Dee Valley - and yet is located just a 2/3 minute walk to the Main House where there is  access to a lovely swimming pool, restaurants, gym,  sauna, squash court and various children's play areas.

More recently we have used the Lodge  - the last 10 years - to occasionally exchange via the well-known RCI (Resorts, Condominiums Inc.) for units in the U.K., USA, Europe and Egypt - but have also still returned at various times/seasons, including High Summer, Christmas and New Year as well as half-term holidays.
 
The Accommodation is very well designed for family use - not only does it have 2 bedrooms - a Master on the top floor and a 2 Bed on the Ground Floor. And to allow larger groups or families there is also a very useful pull-down double bed  incorporating storage in the first-floor sitting/dining room.
 
There is a large shower room, and a Sauna. TV and Video
 
The Lodge's kitchen is well equipped and maintained and is adjacent to a sizeable Dining Table.
 
Outside the full width Balcony/Verandah provides an ideal place to spot birds and animals (including squirrels), and Great for sunbathing during the high-summer months.
 
Ballater is located circa 40 miles from the nearest airport, Aberdeen, or (100 miles from Edinburgh International) and roads generally are good - in Winter snow-ploughs are out very early ensuring traffic still flows to main towns and leisure, sports including skiing locations.
