We have owned our lodge since 1989 and have travelled to Scotland from the south of England in most of the last 28 years and have enjoyed Craigendarroch to the full. On site there is a magnificent pool and a fun pool together with squash court and gymnasium. There are rental facilities for DVD's together with hairdressing and pampering facilities. The on-site restaurant offers excellent fare and caters well for families. The unit faces the Dee Valley and offers superb views from the veranda.

Locally in the village of Ballater there are a good selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs serving a large variety of food and drink. There are also outlets specialising in outdoor pursuits and a supermarket for self-catering requirements.

The Royal connection to Deeside is made with the Queens summer residence at Balmoral which is only 6 miles away.

There are some walks close to Ballater but farther afield there are many to choose from. One of our favourites is Loch Muick and on a good day this is almost deserted and very pleasant walk. For the more adventurous you can try climbing Lochnagar which will occupy most of the day. As Scotland is considered the home of golf there are many courses in the area.

Farther afield there is the ancient City of Aberdeen which has the feel of a modern and busy metropolis with all the services that you would expect, including Dyce international airport and a railway station connecting with Glasgow and Edinburgh. In the county of Aberdeen there are many distilleries and the whisky trail makes for a pleasant day or two out. There are many towns and villages worthy of a visit including Braemar, home of the famous highland games, Pitlochry, Inverness, Perth, and a bit farther away are Glasgow and the Scottish capital of Edinburgh.
