The Hilton Craigendaroch Country Estate is a luxury development (5 star) of 99 lodges grouped around a gorgeous period house which houses the Country Club and further Hilton accommodation apartments. As a lodge owner, you have the opportunity to the Hilton Grand Vacations Club.

Craigendaroch is situated just outside Ballater village inside the Cairngorms National Park, and is around one hour's drive from Aberdeen International Airport. The countryside is really beautiful,and Balmoral Castle,the beloved country escape of the Royal Family is nearby.There are many hillwalking and climbing opportunities close by including the day excursion of walking to the top of Glen Muick or exploring the Lochnagar Wildlife Reserve. For those seeking gentler outings there is lovely level walking along the bank of the River Dee. We purchased Week 6 to be able to enjoy the skiing at the Lecht and Glenshee resorts. These are both around 40 minute's drive away (@25 miles) and although you cannot guarantee snow every year, we have been lucky most years during the 20 years that we have owned our timeshare. The best skiing is during the mornings and it is wonderful to return to Craigendaroch and spend the afternoon relaxing in one of the indoor pools or in the spa. There is also excellent tobogganing for those in your party not up to skiing.

The Country Club houses two indoors pool (one with toddler pool) with spa, tennis and squash courts, gym, sauna and steam room, games room and adventure playground. Year-round activities including children's activities are on offer. The Kieller Lounge serves drinks and bar snacks and the main restaurant, The Keiller Brasserie specializes in serving local produce based meals at reasonable prices. You can also rent mountain bikes locally and there are many trails within easy reach of Craigendaroch. Glen Muick is an exciting challenge for the more experienced rider but the Old Railway line in Ballater is good for beginners. If golf is your passion, there are 3 golf courses within easy reach at Ballater, Braemar, and Aboyne within a 20-minute drive.

Our lodge is one of the largest detached lodges with ample carparking. It sleeps 8 comfortably in 3 bedrooms and a king-size drop down bed in the upstairs living room. There are wonderful views over the Dee valley and it is close to the Country Club (very handy if the weather is not kind). The ground floor houses the 3 bedrooms (one with ensuite complete with large spa bath), a large drying cupboard and room to store sporting equipment and another shower room. Up the stairs to the first floor the spacious living/dining/kitchen opens in front of you. There is a large eating balcony and of course the views! These are panoramic over the Dee valley and really gorgeous! The lounge furniture is high quality leather with a BOSE sound system, a 46-inch flat screen TV, DVD and free Wi-fi. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with everything a budding chef could need including dishwasher, oven, coffee machine, microwave etc. Also on this level is the 8-person sauna with shower room. The lodge is maintained to a very high standard with the bathrooms and furniture replaced on a rolling schedule by the Management. Heating is by cheap rate electricity and the lodge is well insulated and nice and warm even in the coldest weather.

We have had many happy holidays at Craigendaroch but we now live in Australia and find it is too far to travel now that we have grandchildren who want to come to stay.
