This timeshare is attractively located in the grounds of the Craigendarroch Estate. It has a twin bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor while the large lounge on the upper floor has a let-down double bed and a balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. It can comfortably sleep four. The kitchen is at one side of the lounge and has full cooking facilities, refrigerator and dish washer. Amenities in the lounge/dining room include television and DVD and access to the full width balcony.

The Lodge is conjoined with others in a simple two storey structure and these buildings are well separated and pleasantly sited in the attractive grounds, (see photo).

Craigendarroch owners are automatically enrolled in the on-site country club which offers a good-sized indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurant and bar. As I remember there are two other restaurants on site if you don't wish to self cater for every meal. Other facilities for recreation include tennis courts and a dry ski slope.

Craigendarroch is located on the western outskirts of the attractive town of Ballater in Scotland. Ballater is close to Balmoral and, among other attractions, the Queen' s butcher has a shop in the town which sells excellent meat. There is a good variety of shops in the town and one or two decent restaurants. Parking is relatively easy but the town is only about twenty minutes walk from Craigendarroch. For golfers there is an interesting 18 hole course alongside the River Dee.

Needless to say, its location in the heart of the Highlands guarantees a plethora of scenic attractions. Royal Deeside itself of course is one, but within easy reach are Prince Charles's favourite mountain Lochnagar, and on the way there, the grand isolation of Loch Muick is well worth a visit in the course of which you should see stags.

All in all Craigendarroch has a lot to offer both on site and in the surrounding country.

It thoroughly deserves its rating as a Gold Crown Resort and for those who want to roam abroad it has a strong exchange value. In the course of my ownership we successfully exchanged for holidays in Malaga, Tenerife, Madeira and New England through RCI. I cannot recommend it too highly.
