Craigendarroch is an RCI Gold Crown resort in Scotland, 40 miles west of Aberdeen near the small attrective town of Ballater on the river Dee, and not far from the Balmoral Royal Estate. Ballater has good shopping facilities and there are numerous good eating places locally. The main building at the resort, which used to be a luxury hotel, was once owned by the Keiller family whose company is famous for producing marmalade. It houses a leisure centre with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, separate children's pool, sauna, squash court, gymnasium and a games/snooker room. Beauty treatments are available. You can play tennis on an outside court. The Keiller Lounge and Brasserie provide excellent bar and dining facilities and were completely updated in 2013. You can often enjoy live entertainment while relaxing in the bar.

You are truly in the Scottish Highlands here. The surrounding countryside has outstanding natural beauty with Aviemore, the Cairngorms National Park and the Grampian mountains to the west, and Deeside villages and towns to the east. Lochnager mountain (over 3000ft) is close to the resort. About half an hour's drive away, Braemar village is famous for its annual Highland Games, which has royal patronage, and boasts the highest golf course in the UK!

There are ample opportunities for casual walking, hill walking and climbing both locally near Ballater and further afield. Start with a walk up Craigendarroch hill at the back of the resort. The resort organises a wide range of activities including highland sight-seeing safaris, guided walks, horse riding: visits to Balmoral Castle and the Royal Estate are popular and the Lochnager Whisky Distillery on the Royal Estate is well worth seeing. Have a round of golf at Ballater Golf Club, set picturesquely in the crook of the river Dee, or try the many other courses in the area. Cycling has become popular in the area and you can hire bikes from a number of rental outlets.

The timeshare is a two-storey detached Scandinavian style lodge with its own parking. It sleeps 6 people in two bedrooms and a concealed pull-down bed in the lounge. It is set on a slope in woodland where you are almost certain to catch glimpses of the iconic red squirrel. The upper floor comprises a large open-plan dining and lounge area with large windows opening on to a full length balcony. A smart TV has recently been provided with all main channels including CNN and Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3. There is a DVD player and sound system. The WiFi has recently been uprated. Adjoining the dining/lounge area is a fully equipped galley-style kitchen. There is a sauna on the same floor, and the associated shower, hand basin and toilet were renewed in 2013. The two bedrooms are on the lower floor. Both en-suite bathrooms were completely refurbished in 2013 and fitted with under-floor heating. Bathroom 1 has a new spa bath/combined shower, two wash basins in a vanity unit, toilet and heated towel rail. Bathroom 2 has a modern walk-in shower, new wash basin/vanity unit, toilet and heated towel rail.

Week 44 usually covers the period end October/beginning of November.
