1 The entire hotel was renovated in 2018. The apartment now benefits from twin beds in both rooms and large walk-in showers in both shower rooms, also hairdryers. Free WiFi and safe deposit boxes (payable locally). Rooms also have settees and chairs. Kitchenette has a two-ring ceramic hob, microwave, and good size fridge. Other room has small fridge and kettle.
2 Annual Maintenance is fixed to the British R.P.I.
3 There is daily maid service and complimentary toiletries
4 The apartments have sea views and overlook the pool, which has lovely blue lighting after dark
5 We enjoy breakfast on the balcony with fresh rolls/bread from the nearby bakers
6 There is some form of entertainment most evenings in the hotel
7 There is a good selection of restaurants and shops within a short distance

We enjoy walking into Funchal and also walking to the next village of Camara de Lobos (a fishing village where Winston Churchill used to go and paint). This walk is approx. 3 miles, mostly on the promenade, a few cafes/restaurants en route. At the far end of the village is the Coral restaurant, one of our favourites, with an outside dining terrace which looks along to the highest sea cliff in Europe and serves lovely food.

Local yellow buses are excellent and weekly ticket can be purchased on arrival. They are frequent and cheap - an excellent way to get around Funchal. Out of town buses are also very reasonably priced and easy to negotiate.
