My wife & I have owned week 14 in this unit for twenty years and have derived great pleasure and satisfaction from it. However, now that we are in our early eighties, the journey from the North of Scotland to The Lake District has become rather too much for us, and it is with great regret that we now consider passing it on to another fortunate owner. We bought week 14 because it coincided with the Easter school holidays, and because the Lake District was perfect for our family's interest in walking and sailing and other outdoor activities. Over the years, the area's well-earned reputation for friendly pubbing and good eating gradually took over from the hills and the lakes, but even these charms are now sadly beyond our driving comfort zone. Burnside Park sells itself. The layout has been thoughtfully considered and each property retains a high degree of privacy and sense of individual identity. The maintenance both of property and site is immaculate. The schedule of house cleanliness is rigorous and comprehensive. Individual parking could not be more convenient, and there is provision for second cars and visitors. Bowness and Windermere town centres are a gentle stroll away for shopping etc, while access to all the other attractions in the area could scarcely be easier. For those athletically inclined, the on-site location of the Parklands Country Club is available to cottage owners, offering facilities including swimming, gym, squash, badminton, snooker etc etc. Similarly, The Burnside Hotel on site is open to owners for fine dining and several comfortable lounges and bars all within easy walking distance. The layout of the unit itself has suited our family of five in total very well; some luxury for Mum & Dad on the ground floor with ensuite jacuzzi-style bathroom, a smallish but adequate twin bedroom with adjacent shower/wc room on the first floor, and two single beds at mezzanine level (no need for pull-down beds in wall cupboards). The furnishings and general inventory is modern and of good quality. The kitchen is well equipped and works well. The smallish balcony off the living room, is perfect for an after-supper cigar on balmy evenings, looking out over the nicely landscaped development and the hills beyond. Because of the driving distances, for the last few years we have chosen to make our Week 14 available for renting. This has worked extremely well, and the income more than covers the Maintenance Fees plus a little over. We have never failed to rent when that was our choice. Clearly, Week 14 falling at Easter School holidays in the Lake District is hard to resist. Burnside Park richly deserves its Gold Crown Status and we shall miss it.
