The low-level set-up of the resort is complemented by palms and lush gardens and there is a string of activities here for kids.

The 150-plus units at Cypress Pointe Resort are large and nicely decorated, with WiFi internet as standard. Apartments are of the open-plan design and are very spacious, while fully-equipped kitchens featuring cooker, fridge and coffee/tea maker.

The huge swimming pool of Cypress Pointe Resort is the star attraction, residing in the middle of the complex and boasting an erupting, albeit watery, volcano. There’s also a kiddie pool and a tennis court and shuffleboard court nearby, along with a playground and games room. Farther north is Downtown Orlando, easily reachable by car from Cypress Pointe Resort and now an up-and-coming area and good alternative to eating away outside the expensive parks. Head for Orange Avenue of an evening, park up and rub shoulders with myriad other likeminded visitors.

Orlando International Airport is a major facility, receiving flights from around the world. Both flights and car hire here are typically cheap, leaving you to spend more on your holiday and kick back at friendly Cypress Pointe.

There is a shuttle bus service, though the drive is straightforward and goes via express Toll road. Walt Disney World is then an easy 10-minute jaunt by car from the timeshare apartment complex, where you can park up in downtown Disney and enjoy the excesses of this world famous park.
